Hirafu is the biggest village in Niseko, and provides the largest and most diverse selection of accommodation. English has become very common here, so it's quite tourist-friendly. The area also holds the notorious “Peak” section of the skiing mountain, which challenges even expert skiers. Probably the most popular restaurant in Niseko Hirafu, Abucha 2 is a Japanese restaurant and bar that serves over 300 kinds of drinks. Its take on Japanese cuisine is creative, and innovative, while still using traditional Hokkaido ingredients. Enjoy the wide seating area, with intimate tatami dining rooms. Children are also welcome, since this is the perfect spot to nourish and unwind after a long day skiing the Niseko slopes.

Gentemstick is a Niseko icon and staple within the local community. With founder Taro Tamai at its helm, it has grown from a simple one-man operation producing custom-ordered boards to a store that has gained global recognition. This is a great example of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and dedication to the highest quality and service. Their boards aren't mass-produced, rather each board is made with care and attention and designed with the 'short board revolution' and the snowsurf ideal in mind. The famous wood clad storefront is a familiar sight along route 343, where you can see into the old showroom windows as you drive along from Hirafu towards Niseko Village. Stop in and get a glimpse of a true local artisan in action.
