% Arabica Taipei Roastery

Designer's Note

Created through a beautifully converted old home, the roastery offers a unique charm. The ground floor features a welcoming kitchen counter and a roasting room, while a seating area is made available for the customers on the second floor.

The interior is constructed with blue-green tiles inspired by the bronze used in Taiwanese temples. Combined together with white tiles to seamlessly wrap the floors, walls, stairs, and furniture. A lighting artwork is featured right at the entrance, showcasing the iconic % logo, stacked vertically and is hung in the stairwell connecting the two floors. This allows customers to see the completed % logo when looking straight up from the entrance.

In the restroom walls, the Chemex form subtly lurks in the Taiwanese iron window flower inspired tiles that make up the wall.

We hope that this store will be a long-loved store in the area, with recycled green glass washbasins, green sashes in traditional patterns, and wall greening that wrap around the old architecture, creating a harmonious and timeless design.
