Formerly the site of the Shanghai Nanpu Railway Station, the West Bund Financial Hub carries a 100 years of history. From an Imperial Era freight station, the area’s become an integral part of the West Bund skyline. Now it has become a waterfront neighborhood that promises opportunities for an aesthetic lifestyle. And we’re happy to open a store that honors its location’s heritage as a former railway, now located in the commercial’s main entrance surrounded by gardens.
Remembering the space’s ties to the history of the railway station, M.L.K.K Studio has created a design reflecting a combination of old and new. The original black and white floor and timber ceiling typical of buildings during the Imperial Era were preserved. These contrast harmoniously with the pristine white that % Arabica is known for. A hanging light modeled after our % Sign adorns the ceiling, with our signature bean bags lodged at the kitchen wall.
