Once the home of the first 3 emperors of the Qing Dynasty, the Mukden Palace (also known as the Shenyang Imperial Palace) is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along with the Forbidden City in Beijing, this palace is one of two of China’s surviving imperial palace complexes. The entire palace complex has around 20 courtyards and incorporates Tibetan, Mongolian, and Manchu-style architectural motifs. And within the impressive buildings are relics from the Qing Dynasty that are sure to fascinate you.

The Liaoning Provincial Museum houses a vast collection of ancient paintings, calligraphy writings, and Chinese pottery and metalworks. Most of the collected artworks exhibited in the museum date back from the Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties while many more relics date back to pre-ancient times. The museum’s exhibits are organized into 20 rooms and come with English translations for non-Chinese speakers. If you’re interested in learning more about Shenyang and the greater Liaoning Province’s local history, this museum is a must-visit.

Created by Beijing-based architecture firm Jingle Design, and photographed by TOPIA VISION, this special bar charms you with an intimate bar area surrounding a central counter. Upon entering, hundreds of whisky barrels stamped with the Macallan logo greet you along with illuminated glass cabinets showcasing rare vintage whisky bottles. Take a seat at the counter, choose what type of Macallan whisky you want, and enjoy it on the rocks or however you like it.
