Designed by the famous Hungarian-Slovak architect Laszlo Hudec and completed in 1924, the Mansions were a residence for many celebrities in Chinese history including famous actors Wu Yin, Wang Renmei, Qin Yi, Sun Daoli, etc. The building was formerly known as the Normandie Apartments since it was built to commemorate the Normandie, a World War I -era battleship (indicated by the shape of the building). It is the oldest veranda-style apartment building in Shanghai and a reminiscent of the Flatiron Building in New York City. An architectural must see!

Shanghai’s most up-and-coming and delicious bakeries! The story with the store name is inspired by its two key products: croissant and ice-cream. A croissant kind of looks like a crescent moon, and a scoop of ice-cream kind of looks like a full moon, so they decided to name the shop after the French world for moon, “lune”, but with a twist to make it “luneurs”, which can be figuratively interpreted as “dreamers”. The owner of Luneurs mentions that this kind of simple, product-focused display is inspired by famed pastry chef Cédric Grolet’s newest pastry boutique in Paris, with viennoiserie on the left, desserts in the centre, and savories on the right. Everything from a simple croissant to the salted caramel ice-cream to the brioche country bread are just simply amazing.
