Visiting Ciqikou is a great cultural experience. Ciqikou is an old town preserved in Chongqing with 1000 years of history. Ciqikou means "porcelain harbour" in Chinese. At the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, this town was famous for producing and selling porcelain. Most of the buildings here were built in the Ming or Qing architectural style, with bamboo and wood frames and foundations. In the centre of town the well preserved Baolun Temple, built over 1500 years ago, is still very prosperous. Strolling along the street you can taste the local street for, or even order a cup of tea and watch the folk performances in an old style teahouse.
