Designer's Note
The new % Arabica store in Hong Kong is located right at the entrance of the iconic Entertainment Building. It has been one of our most challenging projects to date, as the space is divided into two parts, with a busy pedestrian walkway in between for people entering the building.
Our intention was to create two counters that function independently yet form a unified space. To achieve this, we used a unifying element: a corrugated aluminum sheet painted white, which ties the space together. To make the most of the limited area, we designed small opal niches in the gaps left by the existing structure, which also serve as lighting. These counters are backlit on their top sides, and combined with the other elements, they create a warm and tranquil environment amid the hustle and bustle of the city center.
