Designer's Note
“Beijing has flourished as the ancient capital of China. The Imperial Palace, known as the Forbidden City, is at its center, surrounded by city walls. The walls have numerous gates that allow people to pass through, and to this day, the names of these gates have become local names scattered throughout Beijing. Considering this historical background, we created a space design using the motif of “gates.”
Initially, we surrounded the store entrance with gate-like line lighting to enhance the visibility of the facade, creating an entrance that catches the eyes of passersby and guides them into the store. Additionally, the retail displays installed on the walls facing the passage were similarly designed with gate-shaped line lighting to direct people’s gaze, allowing the ambience of % Arabica to permeate the surroundings. By structuring the space using the shape of gates in this way, we aimed to create a space where customers can relax and unwind.” ***
